Among the refreshing notes of 1723 is cardamom (Elettaria cardamomum), native to India and Sri Lanka and used as a spice for thousands of years. From Japan to Scandinavia, it plays an important role in culinary art and is also widely used in perfumery for its unique aroma. In the Arab world, it is traditionally used to flavor coffee. As a fragrance ingredient, cardamom is sweet, resinous and spicy, with slightly bitter accents.
